european regional development fund

As part of our company’s program to digitize and up grade its production cycles, we have developed and installed a new plant for the production of wooden flanges that are integral parts of the larger whole that goes back to the cable spools in use at large multinational electrical cable manufacturing groups.
With the installation of the new plant, made possible thanks to funding related to the MISE Sustainable Investments 4.0 call for tenders decree of the Ministry of Economic Development of Feb. 10, 2022 published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Italy on April 02, 2022 no. 78, our company has reached a level of technology that enables it not only to compete with major European manufacturers but also to achieve quality standards of absolute pre-eminence.
In fact, the line, consists of ultra-high-precision machining stations and fully automated stations by virtue of the deployment of multifunctional robots that facilitate inter-operational activities.
The end result is that with five machining stations, all drilling locations (center hole, tie holes, drum seat, turned holes) and the subsequent final stacking are completed.
Thanks to the level of automation described above, the plant achieves a level of flexibility that allows it to be inserted into machining operations with diameters ranging from 600 to 2400 mm. without special retooling.
With 4.0, complete management of production cycles and schedules is also achieved remotely through interconnection with the central business system.
All processing systems (tools) are energy-efficient as well as all suction of processing residues (sawdust) are calibrated to the actual need of individual processing.
Therefore, the parameters in which our company has been operating for some time now remain confirmed, namely:
– Environmental respect and sustainability through the elimination of particulate matter typical of wood processing
– Product quality through adherence to processing tolerances at individual, highly automated stations
– Competitiveness due to reduced processing cycle time
– Safety for workers operating components to be machined with automated systems
Last but not least, the reduction of physical exertion by installing automatic loaders and unloaders; consider in this regard that individual flanges can reach weights of 200 kg.
The installation of the system also had a positive impact on the workforce by, among other things, requiring specific training courses in the use of highly innovative automation technologies.
